On May 21st, 2015 the Edmonton Heritage Festival Association invited participants and sponsors to a preparatory meeting to plan and inform pavilion owners about organizational details in regards to the 40th annual celebration of the Edmonton Heritage Festival.

The Edmonton Heritage Festival in Edmonton is a three-day event where people present their cultural roots and local and national communities. In approximately 60 pavilions more than 85 different cultures will celebrate their heritage. Beside the delicious cultural food visitors will be able to enjoy a wide variety of crafts, arts and products, and various cultural performances. The festival will take place in William Hawrelak Park in the scenic river valley of the North Saskatchewan River on August 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 2015.

The compulsory pavilion meeting was held Thursday evening at the Hellenic Centre in Edmonton, the location of the Hellenic Canadian Community of Edmonton and Region Heritage Language School. Representatives of the over 60 cultural pavilions, who will showcase about 85 cultures at the festival, took part at the preparations.

Aiming to make the fair and festival successful, the participants were greeted personally by Executive Director Jack Little, who also closed the meeting answering the questions of the pavilion organizers. The meeting was chaired by President Pro Venkatraman, who welcomed the audience and introduced newcomers to the Edmonton Heritage Festival Association, its staff and sponsors.

The presentations from Mario Arrott of the City of Edmonton Fire Department, and from Daniel Dompreh of Capital Health answered important organizational questions and set out a number of necessary rules to improve on safety and comfort for the expected 350,000 festival visitors.

The sponsors and suppliers Apollo Propane, Coca Cola, Driving Force, Earth Friendly Distributors, Royal Treats, and Special Event Rentals were present to help the pavilions with their specific needs for services, equipment, power and food.

Festival Committee Member Myron Nebozuk, Executive Director Jack Little, and Executive Member at Large Michael Kraus expressed a warm welcome to the participating communities from different countries and cultures. The Edmonton Heritage Festival (also known as the Servus Heritage Festival) is organized on an annual base honoring Alberta's cultural heritage and cultural diversity over the August long weekend in William Hawrelak Park in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The festival has been organized by the Edmonton Heritage Festival Association since 1976.

Delwar Jahid, President of Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA), and his team including Dr. Hafizur Rahman, Tomal Islam and Dollin Islam were participating at the event for the organization of the Bangladesh Pavilion. Delwar Jahid informed the Edmonton Heritage Festival Association about the plan of the Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) to publish a heritage magazine this year, which will complement the theme of the festival and include an introduction to the Bangladesh heritage and culture. The idea and effort to address an important issue was highly appreciated by the present members of the festival organizers.
