He called upon all concerned to work from their respective areas for supplementing the government's efforts in implementing the 'Vision-2021' as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Nahid was speaking at a function to accord a reception to the GPA-5 recipients of this year of the Motijheel Model High School and College on the school premises. President of the school governing body M Awlad Hossain presided over the function while chairman of Dhaka Education Board Professor Taslima Begum, Dhaka district education officer Harun-or-Rashid and acting principal of the school and college Selina Shams spoke. He said students will not only have to be educated but also build them as worthy citizens imbued with the spirit of patriotism. He stressed the need for physical growth of students through cultural activities and play besides education. "Economically Bangladesh may be a poor country but the country is not poor in terms of merit," he said. Referring to the success stories during the last five years, the education minister said there are now 4.5 crore students at different levels in the country. The government has so far installed multimedia classrooms at 23,000 schools in the country, said the minister. Taslima Begum called upon the guardians to work for building their children as ideal citizens with moral values. The school stood 5th in terms of the countrywide SSC results this year and as many as 1,130 students got A+, said AKM Asaduzzaman, senior teacher of the school. |
