Edmonton, Alberta, February 22, 2014: International Mother Language Day celebrated in Canada, the journalist, writer, and Research Fellow of St. Paul's College, University of Manitoba at present the President of Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta, Delwar Jahid laid flowers with the members of the society on the martyrs’ monument in the morning at MacEwan University downtown campus premises.
Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) organized a discussion meeting followed by patriotic songs of Natasha, presided over by Delwar Jahid.

In this program The Associate Minister Hon. Naresh Bhardwaj (MLA Edmonton-Ellerslie) was present as Chief Guest while Hon. M. Sohail Quadri (PC) MLA (Edmonton-Mill Woods) and The City Councilor Amarjeet Suhi were present as guest of honor. The guests were also laid flowers to the monument in respect to the language martyrs of 1952.
The meeting was addressed by the The Chief Guest, Guest of honors, Dr. Rick Lewis, Director of MacEwan International, readout a message from Professor Dr. Olenka Bilash, Member of North American representative, Advisory Board, UNESCO’s Linguapax in support and solidarity to BHESA, and juvenile speaker Mirza Navid Alam who point out the language struggles of 2nd generation kids of Canada.
The Guest of honor M. Sohail Quadri (PC) MLA and City Councilor Amarjeet Suhi distributed BHESA’s “Ekushe Heritage Award 2014” to a language movement veteran Mohammad Siddique Hossain, Prof. Dr. Nurul Islam (education), Dr. Hafizur Rahman (community service) , Shahid Hasan (community service and organizational) in the ceremony . A colorful BHESA year events calendar of 2014 and a souvenir on International Mother Language Day were distributed.
Vote of the thanks were given by BHESA Vice-President Tomal Islam, in the event voluntary activities the recognized members are: General Secretary-Ahsan Ullah, Cultural Secretary Anar Miah, Taief, Masud, Nurul Huda, Syfur and Sabrina.
